In 1611, exactly 400 years before the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Keicho Sanriku Offshore Earthquake struck Tohoku. At that time, the one-eyed warlord Date Masamune overcame three trials and worked hard to rebuild the area.
Falkor is a one-eyed dragon that brings good fortune, and like Lord Masamune, it symbolizes the courage and determination to hold on to dreams and hopes, and to never give up and act, even in the face of difficulties and handicaps.

The King of Bhutan, whose national flag bears a dragon, asked children in Fukushima, “Have you seen a dragon? I have.”
In 1611, exactly 400 years before the 2011 disaster, the northeast region of Japan (Tohoku) was struck by the Keicho Sanriku Earthquake. Date Masamune, the legendary one-eyed samurai lord, overcame three great trials and led recovery efforts.
