Collection: 3. Bonds with Japan - Goodwill relay
🟡 Bonds between Japan and other countries, relay of goodwill
Historically, the Tohoku region has been hit by three major earthquakes, one of which dates back to the Jogan earthquake of 869, which is said to be the origin of the Gion Festival.
Furthermore, Japan and the United States have built deep ties through three "Operation Tomodachi" missions, and Japan itself has carried out 83 overseas disaster relief operations in 49 countries since 1987. This collection is a testament to the "bonds" and "relay of goodwill" that continue to be woven between Japan and other countries around the world. ▶Detailed information on the bond with Japan and the relay of goodwill PDF
🟢 Bonds with Japan — Goodwill relay
The Tohoku region has faced three catastrophic earthquakes throughout history. The first one, back in 869 — the Jogan Earthquake — is believed to be the origin of Kyoto's famous Gion Festival, a prayer for the casualties that has continued for over 1,150 years.
“US Operation Tomodachi” in 2011 was the third friendship mission between the US and Japan since 1906, building deep and lasting ties. Goodwill relay has started since 1609 with Mexico and Japan has provided disaster relief to 49 countries in 83 missions since 1987, continuing the global goodwill relay. This collection honors the bond forged through such acts — a living symbol of the ongoing goodwill relay between Japan and the world. ▶Detail info of Bonds with Japan & Goodwill relay PDF
